Rainforest Plum has small, shiny, dark black fruit that is deliciously sweet and slightly acidic. In our greenhouses, it produces two crops a year, one in mid-summer and then again in the fall. Our Rainforest Plums are grown from seed and are shrubby trees that can be maintained at 4-6’ tall in containers. It is tolerant of dryness and responds well to pruning making it a good candidate to grow in a large pot. It generally begins flowering at 3-4’ tall and benefits from spending the summers outdoors which enhances the pollination. The fruit may be eaten fresh or made into jam.

Anonymous My rainforest plum is doing really well. It is still small , but quite leafy now. As I am in zone 9 in Central Florida , I will bring it in the house when the temp gets to the mid-fifty 50s . Right now it is cold, so I brought it in a warmer place than outside in semi shade , si it sits with my phaleonopsis & one of my cattleya orchids and two bananas in my glass-enclosed hot tub room, and is very happy and healthy . I put it on the hot tub cover for a close up shot . As soon as it is warm again , it will go back outside at the edge of my or under my covered porch where it where it can get more heat and shade and will be much happier .
